Darrell Jones Sr. stands on County Route 83 where an auto crash claimed the lives of his sons Darrius Jones, 16, and Darrell Jones II, 28, on Sept. 2.
"I’m gutted to the core. The pain — you can’t describe it because it’s numbing.” Darrell Sr. has been searching for answers since the accident, citing that although reports claim Darrius was driving at an unsafe speed, there is a lack of evidence to support it. He also questions why Suffolk police did not run a toxicology report on the driver of the other car. Jones is a retired NYPD officer and believes there are missing pieces in the investigation.

"I’ve come around here every single day since the accident, sometimes more than once a day, just driving in circles. I look at the traffic patterns. I look at the lights. I see people driving fast," Darrell Sr. said. "I am going to do this every day until I get answers or I don’t breathe," he added.

As of Aug. 31 this year, there were 14 accidents at this intersection.
